urbanplan was able to prove the prospective additional retail purchasing power within the catchment of Amherst Neighbourhood Centre would support additional retail floorspace. This robust centre is poised for staged expansion over the next few years.

To fulfill the purpose of this project, the project objectives were to undertake a retail demand analysis to:

  • analyse the structure and performance of the neighbourhood shopping centre;
  • measure the effect of retail demand in the catchment;
  • predict the impacts of future changes in inter-industry transactions; and
  • achieve an indication of the potential retail sector demand to estimate the potential for additional floorspace at the centre
